Mowing for Memories
By Adrianne Philion
Sitting in the waiting room, a familiar place he has been before, Jonah watches as children just like him go through the same motions 鈥 doctor appointments, blood work, scans and more. Yet something stuck out in Jonah鈥檚 mind. Though all these children are on similar paths there is something different about his journey. Jonah is in remission now and at the end of the day he is fortunate to return home. To a very compassionate very empathetic Jonah, this really hit home. He knew there was something he could do and knew it had to involve Give Kids The World.
Jonah and his entire family still hold close the heartwarming memories they made at the Village many years ago. 鈥淭he absolute warmth you felt as soon as you got there was incredible,鈥 reminisces Jonah鈥檚 mother, Jennifer, on their visit to the Village. 鈥淪eeing Jonah happy just melted my heart. Through everything we had been going through GKTW was so welcoming and peaceful.鈥
More than a handful of 鈥渕emories to melt for鈥 were made at the Village as Jonah and his brother, Joshua, fell in love with the Ice Cream Palace. Joshua fondly remembers how everyone at GKTW treated his brother extra specially and extended that same high quality treatment to him as well. Because of the Village, the entire family was able cherish the time they spent together by worrying less and smiling more.
